“We played infiniti.
One of them was the one by Leopardi, but we didn’t know it.
The other infinites would have been our ones, and only in the end they would have met with the one by Leopardi.
In short we had to make 15 drawings (plus one for the cover), in fact the lines of Leopardi’s piece of poetry are 15, but we didn’t know it.
And we had to make them pretty fast, at least four every afternoon, or we wouldn’t have finished our infinite on time, so we had to find a way.
And draw the subject we wanted, those that came to mind, because we didn’t have a text hint, no help from words.
Then we had to choose which drawings to keep, if we drew more, and give them an order.
In the end came the text and we could write it, one line for every drawing, and bind the book and read the piece of poetry that, at this point, was an illustrated piece of poetry”. – Guido Scarabottolo.
